Mercury is a student-run journal established in the Faculty of Arts at HKU, which aims to publish high-quality undergraduate research papers, critical reviews, and creative writing. With the purpose of promoting academic excellence at the undergraduate level, Mercury seeks to provide a platform for young scholars at HKU to flourish. With a team of students from sixteen different disciplines and nine different countries, Mercury represents the broad international outlook of HKU. We have received full support from scholars in the Faculty of Arts and have been officially accredited by the Deans of                                                             the Faculty.

Why is the journal named Mercury?
Mercury was the messenger of the gods and therefore the god of communication: as the Greek Hermes, he was also the god of interpretation and translation, thus the relation with humanities.

Our vision:
To create a space for young researchers at HKU to take their first steps into academia.

WHY you should get involved……

As an author:
Mercury can give you the opportunity not only to have your work published, but also to help put you in conversation with established researchers in your field.

As a reader:
Readers will gain a better understanding of the way in which humanities research papers are written, recognized, and reviewed.
